Exclude certain files or websites from scanning in AVG AntiVirus
You can exclude
files and websites, that you know they are not infected and you may want to exclude certain files or websites
from scanning to speed up your scans and as well as device speed also.
So, set
exceptions only. If you are not sure about a file, you can scan it with
VirusTotal, or add the file to Quarantine for submitting it to the AVG Threat
Labs.
Quarantine is a
place in AVG Internet Security and AVG AntiVirus for safe storing potentially
harmful files and then completely isolating them away from the rest of your
operating system files and folders. Files inside Quarantine that cannot be
accessed or run by any outside processes, software applications, or viruses.
Move files to
Quarantine
AVG automatically
moves malicious or infected files to Quarantine, if they are not able to repair them. And you can also add manually
unknown, doubt, or specious files to AVG Quarantine area and then you can send
them for analysis to AVG by below steps.
Open the AVG user
interface and then go to Menu, and then click on Quarantine.
On the Quarantine
window, now click Add File.
Now, locate the
file via selecting them, that you want to move to the Quarantine area.
Now those files
will appear in Quarantine and can be sent for analysis to AVG.com/activate
Restore files
from Quarantine
NOTE: One thing,
restoring files from the Quarantine area is a high security risk. This action
is required by advanced knowledge users, so they intended for specific
situations because, if a critical system file is moved to Quarantine they can
take suitable action.
Return a file to
its original location
This action will
restore the file to its original location on your Computer. AVG recommends to
use this option only if you are fully trusting them that the file is safe from
malware.
Open the AVG
Quarantine area
Select by tick
the box to the relevant files in Quarantine.
Now click the
three dots icon next to Delete all or select Restore from the context menu.
Then Click Close
in the confirmation dialog box that appears.
Return a file to
a new location
This option will
restore the file to a location on your computer that you specify destination.
AVG.Com/Activate recommends to use this option, if aware that the file is safe
from malware.
Tick the box next
to the relevant file in Quarantine, or optionally tick the box next to Threat
name to select all files.
Click the … icon
(three dots) next to Delete all and select Extract from the context menu.
Select a location
where the file will be restored, then click OK.
Click Close in
the confirmation dialog that appears.
